Documents to be Submitted during the DV Lottery Interview

Once you are selected as a winner through the Diversity Visa lottery, the next step is getting yourself prepared for the visa interview. You will get to know all the information and instruction about your interview and the required documentation through the entrant status check on the E-DV website.

The confirmation number that you obtained at the time of filing your application to enter the DV lottery must be retained in order to check your application and your winning status. You will be able to check whether you had won the DV lottery only if you have the confirmation number, your name, surname and your date of birth. All the further information with respect to interview dates, time and location, may be obtained only through the entrant status check. You will not receive any postal mail or e-mail, stating that you had won the lottery or lost.

You may receive e-mails, asking you to check the entrant status check, for information about your interview, etc. The notification e-mails will not contain information about interview dates, time, etc.

The US Embassies and Consulates have certain information that the applicants must understand and review before their interview.

The DV lottery applicant must have a high school education or a qualifying work experience for two years. Hence, at the time of interview, you may be required to submit a certificate of completion which is equal to a US diploma and other evidence which specifies the completed education, to the US Embassy or Consulate.

To prove your work experience, you must submit documentation, stating that you have two years of qualifying work experience, 5 years prior to the application.

A passport valid for six months must be submitted. You must submit your birth certificate, with your name and names of both your parents along with the place of your birth.

If you were convicted of a crime, you may be required to provide a certified copy of the court record with complete information detailing the circumstance of the convicted crime.

If you are married, you must submit your original marriage certificate. That certificate must contain an authorized stamp or seal of the issuing authority. You must submit the original marriage certificate or a certified copy to the US Embassy, at the time of your interview. If you were divorced, supporting documentation must be attached.

You may also be required to provide financial evidence to demonstrate that you can support yourself financially and not become a public charge in the United States.

You must prepare carefully for your visa interview. If you fail to be well prepared for your interview, it may result in delay or denial of your visa.

You will be guided through each and every step of your interview, after you learn that you had won the DV lottery, through the entrant status check in the E-DV website. To be successful in entering the United States, its necessary to retain your confirmation number, with which you will be able to check your application status and all the other information. As you will not receive any information through mails and e-mails, you must make sure that you keep your confirmation safe. Without the confirmation number, you will not be able to check whether you had won and further information related to your interview and required documentation. DV Lottery is one of the best way to get green card to USA.
